Jewel was raised in Greenburgh, NY and has always held Democrat values close at heart. She attended SUNY-College at Buffalo and CUNY-Baruch College for her undergraduate degree and expects to complete her Master’s in Public Policy next year. She has experience in grant writing and philanthropic development with leading advocacy/cause organizations and health institutions such as the Breast Cancer Alliance and Blythedale Children’s Hospital. She has been with New York Presbyterian Hospital’s Columbia University Medical Center for over 13 years and currently serves as the Programs and Faculty Affairs Manager for Orthopedic Surgery. One of Jewel’s main responsibilities is recruitment; she focuses on increasing minorities in the field.

Jewel’s recent election as Westchester County Legislator, representing District No. 8 is a culmination of all the positions she has held. She has always worked and advocated for progressive results in all of her positions and looks forward to extending the legacies of both her mother, our current Vice Chair of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, Hon. Alfreda Williams and that of the late Hon. Lois Bronz.
Jewel lives in Greenburgh, NY with her husband, Lacy Johnson. She truly appreciates her journey and is excited about the future. She firmly believes that we each have a positive voice, a purpose to fulfill and that each mistake or mishap is a lesson and an opportunity for betterment.
