Attorney
Julie Mills- Worthey is a retired attorney, following thirty years of public service. She was a staff attorney with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, Mount Vernon City Court attorney and a New York State Supreme Court law clerk.
For over twenty years, Julie Mills-Worthey has been an Officer and Board member of the Westchester Black Bar Association and she is currently serving her 2 nd term on the Board of the Westchester Library System. She has served on the boards of the Mount Vernon Public Library, The Association of Community Based Artists of Westchester, the Tribune Society and the Mount Vernon Boys and Girls Club. She is trained as a peer group facilitator and regularly led a women’s social group at a local LGBTQ center. Julie is also a member of LeGal, New York’s LGBTQ bar association.
In 2014, she joined Beyond Brave and Bold, a New York collective of Black/African Descent Lesbians. In March 2016, the collective, with Julie serving as chair of the Operations Committee, produced a sold out two-day conference held at Barnard Center for Research on Women. That conference was the first of its kind in Harlem and the first in New York City in over 30 years.
Julie is a long time resident of Mount Vernon, New York, proud mother of rising professional Chef, Lina Worthey, doting grandmother to Alex and Rico, and, since 2018, a full-time caregiver to her 95-year-old mother.
